This is a vintage Department 56 piece titled "Cinema 56". 56.54978 and was made in 1999. Department 56 is known as The Original Snow Village.
The Cinema 56 ought to be in pictures with its classic 1950s look and flashing, show-stopping movie marquee lights. Lines will form around the block when this cinema makes its debut on Main Street! The versatile marquee sign is removable for future custom signs. The marquee reads: Holiday Specials, Saturday Family Night, Feature Presentation Dreaming of a Snowy Village, and Feature Presentation Miracle on One Village Place.
The signs around the building are a play on words and spoofs on other famous movies. They read: Coming Soon Some Like it Cold, Shoveling all the Snow Coming Soon in 3-D, Gone with the Windchill, The Good the Bad & the Collector, Santa without a Clause starring Scott Enter as Santa, Citizen Candy Cane, How the North was One, and The Snowman Cometh. The back doors say Not an Entrance. The ceramic Cinema 56 house. Switch cord with light bulb.
Power adapter for the marquee. Original box and styrofoam packing. Original Department 56 hang tag. All lights work, and the marquee flashes beautifully! Note that there are a couple of very small chips or places where paint is missing. One is on top next to some snow, and the other is under the left edge of the marquee. They are hard to notice unless you look very closely, but I wanted to make sure everything was disclosed. Other than that, it is in excellent condition!
